JUDGED

With a tear in my eye I called to above,

" Let me have a sign of forgiveness and love."

Silence surrounded with no movement from above,

I thought to myself, "I’ll give Him a shove."

I proffered a solution to end this matter,

saying, "If you do this, I’ll do better."

Not a peep or sound, just silence unshattered.

Not a flash or a bang or a movement that mattered.

No burning bushes or stars to guide my way.

All I could see was wasting the day.

I knelt again and even hummed a few bars,

But all I could hear was the passing of cars.

Some how I knew my cry had been heard.

Things would be set right according to His word.

The next day, I was right, everything was corrected.

Wiping the sweat from my brow I was glad I had connected.

"Praise God," I uttered as I hopped into the shower.

My friend and I would rejoice at the bar in an hour.

The truck I never saw nearly tore my car apart.

Now my friend clings to life with the faintest of heart.

Again I call out to above,

"Show me a sign of mercy and Love."

"My offer still stands and this time is for real.

I’ll be there on Sunday if we strike a deal."

My words went unanswered and my friend slipped away.

I said to myself, "He lost this soul today."

I would come to stand at Heaven’s Gates one day.

I called out to Jesus, "My Savior," but He turned away.

"Can’t we talk, barter or deal.

I lived a good life and given another chance I will."

"I’ll spread your message, witness and testify.

I’ll tell how great you are and never lie."

"My life will be an altar of your spoken word.

The praises I’ll sing will be the sweetest ever heard."

Then they said, "For you it’s too late.

You’ve been judged on your own and will be sent away.

"I understand’" I cried. "Jesus is the way."

I should have been redeemed before Judgement Day.

There are no bargains, no debts to pay.

There’s no wiggling out, there’s only one way.

When you stand before Jesus and are called upon,

Will you have salvation to lean on.

Will He know who you are and reach for your hand?

Will you spend eternity in the Promised Land?

Believe me right now, I speak of His virtue,

If you don’t profess Him, He’ll not be with You.

Some lives will bare the riches of mankind.

Other will store up and live for all time.

It’s not this world for which man should strive,

But we should live for God, a fruitful life.
