THE HARVEST

As a gift from God I came as a child

to a world confused, sinful and wild.

Once a youngster I followed His teaching

and was up on Sunday to hear the preaching.

Confusion sat in when I was a teen,

I felt drawn to a world so angry and mean.

Resisting the pull of life’s sinful nature

I felt as a Christian, I was mature.

The bell rang on a joyous day

when I took another’s hand come what may.

In Gods’ presents we pledged to be true,

to cleave together and love only you.

As a parent I tried to be a good mentor,

but I stumbled, faltered and open sins’ door.

We pulled together and renewed our vow

to keep Gods’ word forever and now.

One day I was older and gray with knowledge,

but not the kind you get from college.

A scholar I was, of Gods’ holy word,

with a mission to spend the Good News I had heard.

I witnessed to many, telling of God at my side,

"you’re lost without Him," was my battle cry.

With my salvation I’ll not be denied,

because it’s in Gods’ word by which I abide.

Today I’ll leave headed for glory,

never looking back at this world of worry.

I’ll be gone from this earth in the twinkling of an eye,

singing His praises in The Sweet By and By.

Heed this word of timeless intervention,

you’ll not have peace without Gods’ attention.

There is no sweeter time and no greater cheer

than the moment you step forward and Jesus draws you near.

I’ll stand at the thrown cloaked in His crimson veil

as of a fruitful life my sweet Jesus will tell.
